Absaroka Capital is Montana's first student-run, evergreen venture fund, based at Montana State University in Bozeman. The fund is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world investing, providing hands-on venture capital experience while supporting early-stage startups across Montana and the Mountain West. Structured as a 501(c)(3) philanthropic evergreen fund, it focuses on pre-seed investments and is industry agnostic, while naturally leaning toward sectors aligned with Montana's regional strengths — including quantum, fintech, photonics, and energy — due to its geographic focus. Typical investments range from $15k to $30k via SAFE, with returns recycled to sustain future student-led investments and entrepreneurial education at MSU. Inspired by the 1930s Absaroka statehood movement, the fund is committed to empowering overlooked founders and underserved regions by investing beyond traditional coastal venture capital hubs.
