Base Case Capital is a solo-GP fund founded and operated by Alana Goyal that writes the very first institutional check into builders who are 'still dreaming, tinkering, and exploring what they want to create'—often before they have a product, traction, or even a fully formed idea. Rather than taking pitch meetings or requiring decks, Alana engages founders through direct conversation and ongoing dialogue, acting as an embedded early user, paying customer, and active operational partner with no board seat. The fund's core mission is to help technical founders 'nail their base case'—securing first engineers, first customers, and first institutional capital—before recursing onwards to Series A and beyond. Basecase is particularly drawn to comeback founders, solo founders, underdogs with deep conviction, and anyone who has been told they are 'too intense, too curious, or too impatient.'
