California Innovation Fund

California Innovation Fund is a unique shared-carry private/public venture capital fund that invests in high-potential startups emerging from UC Berkeley and peer entrepreneurial universities globally. The fund is industry-agnostic at the early stage, targeting late Seed and Series A rounds, with an opportunistic mandate to participate in select later-stage companies. Its greatest sector exposure is to biotech and data/AI. In a defining structural innovation, 50% of the General Partner carry is returned to the University of California system, creating a virtuous cycle that transfers a portion of portfolio success back to the education of the next generation of entrepreneurs. The fund provides not only capital but also access to a robust community of UC faculty, alumni, and industry leaders, along with mentor-matching, executive coaching, and on-campus resources.
