Investment thesis

Enterprise Ireland is the Irish government's enterprise development agency and Europe's most active domestic venture capital investor by deal count (PitchBook, 2022). Its mission is to accelerate the development of world-class Irish companies to achieve strong positions in global markets, resulting in increased national and regional prosperity. The agency invests directly in High Potential Start-Ups (HPSUs) — early-stage, export-oriented companies introducing innovative products or services to international markets — from pre-seed through to scale-up, while also committing capital to Irish venture funds via its Seed and Venture Capital (SVC) Schemes. Since 1994, Enterprise Ireland has committed almost €700m to the SVC Schemes, leveraging an additional ~€1.5bn into the Irish VC ecosystem, with the latest €250m SVC Scheme 2025–2029 targeting seed to Series A+ stage companies across sectors of strategic national importance including technology, life sciences, cleantech, and internationally traded services.
