IW Capital was founded in 2011 with a mission to back ambitious growth businesses, originally focusing on EIS-qualifying companies. Today the firm invests on a thematic basis around four megatrends reshaping societies and economies: Health and Wellbeing, Technology, Environmental Improvement/Circular Economy, and Consumer Goods and Services. IW Capital backs founders with proven concepts already generating revenues of at least £2M per year, who are purpose-led and building category-leading businesses to solve major global issues. Most investments have technology at their heart — through owned intellectual property, being technology-enabled, or through the application of AI. As active investors, IW Capital takes board positions, provides strategic guidance, leverages its 40,000-strong HNWI investor network, and offers dedicated support in growth marketing, PR and public affairs via its IW Catalyst platform.
Notable quotes
“We've broadened our focus out from EIS businesses to any high-potential and scalable business that offers a solution to one of the world's major issues. We're now a team of 12, we have over £170m assets under management across a range of industries and fully exited 8 investments, and we're currently raising a growth fund of up to £30M which will co-invest with our 40,000-strong HNWI investor group.”
“Lucida Medical is addressing a critical bottleneck in modern healthcare. As populations age and incidence rates of cancer rise, the ability to diagnose cancer earlier and more efficiently is essential and forms part of a major Government plan. The company combines deep clinical expertise, strong NHS validation and a scalable technology platform, and we are pleased to support its next phase of growth.”
“Our growth has gone gangbusters since IW Capital invested in 2024. We were one of TIME Magazine's 'World's Best Inventions' and were recently ranked number four in the Sunday Times' fastest growing companies.”
