Legal & General Capital (LGC) is the alternative investment arm of Legal & General Group, deploying L&G's principal balance sheet capital into areas where it sees a need to address society's needs — 'turning the world's biggest challenges into opportunities for constructive change and investment, generating positive value for all.' LGC specialises in six alternative sectors: housing, urban regeneration, clean energy transition, capital partnerships (backing high-growth asset managers), venture capital fund investments, and digital/specialist infrastructure. Its investment approach is built on long-term purposeful partnerships, enabling it to be a first mover in nascent markets and originate alternative assets that deliver performance for shareholders while creating attractive assets for the wider L&G business. In 2024, LGC was merged with Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) to form a unified Asset Management division, now managing over £74.8bn in private assets across Real Assets and Private Credit.
