LIOF (Limburgs Instituut voor Ontwikkelingsfinanciering)

LIOF is the regional development agency of the Province of Limburg (Netherlands), jointly owned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Province of Limburg. Its mission is to strengthen the economic structure of Limburg by supporting innovative startups, scale-ups and SMEs with advice, network and financing. LIOF invests across the full lifecycle — from early proof-of-concept (via the Limburg Early Stage Fund) through seed equity (Seed Fund Limburg) to growth and later-stage participations — always with the goal of creating a smarter, more sustainable and healthier Limburg. The firm focuses on four key societal transitions: energy, circularity, health and digitalisation, with sector emphasis on agrifood, chemicals & materials, life sciences/health, smart services, logistics and industry. LIOF also operates a Fund-of-Funds, investing in specialist VC and PE funds (including Brightlands Venture Partners, Borski Fund, Shift Fund IV and others) to multiply capital impact and attract external expertise and networks to the region.
