National Grid Partners (NGP) is the corporate venture capital and innovation arm of National Grid plc., one of the world's largest investor-owned energy utilities. Founded in 2018, NGP invests in emerging technology companies at the intersection of IT and energy — targeting startups that will help create the electric networks of the future, engage customers, boost operational efficiency, and decarbonize fossil fuel networks. These four pillars — Future Electric Networks, Customer First, Efficiency Through Innovation, and Decarbonizing Gas — guide all investment decisions. NGP invests from disruptive seed ideas to more mature growth-stage companies, and more than 50% of the time acts as lead investor. Beyond capital, NGP provides business development support, access to National Grid's U.S. and UK operations as a testing ground, and connectivity to over 150 global utilities through its NextGrid Alliance.
