The NATO Innovation Fund is the world's first multi-sovereign venture capital fund, backed by 24 NATO Allies and deploying €1 billion+ into cutting-edge deep tech startups and funds. NIF invests in science and engineering companies that strengthen the defence, security, and resilience of Allied nations — spanning AI, autonomy, quantum, space, energy, novel materials and manufacturing, biotechnologies, hypersonic systems, and next-generation communications. The fund leads initial equity rounds of up to €15 million with substantial reserves for follow-on capital, and also operates a fund-of-funds programme to bolster deep tech ecosystems — particularly in underserved regions such as Southern and Eastern Europe and the Nordics. NIF works closely with Allied governments to provide portfolio companies with unprecedented access to 24 sovereign customers, ~90 NATO-affiliated test centres, and over 6,000 Allied scientists.
