Sorenson Impact Institute

Sorenson Impact Institute, housed at the University of Utah's David Eccles School of Business, seeks to expand the market for impact investing and equip the next generation of impact leaders. The Institute believes that 'social and environmental impact need not come at the expense of financial return, and that purposefully deployed private capital can create social and environmental impact, and generate positive, risk-adjusted, financial returns.' It deploys capital through internally managed impact funds (including the University Venture Fund and the Joan and Tim Fenton Founders Fund), Impact Investing As-A-Service for families, foundations, and funds, and advisory services—targeting early-stage companies addressing pressing social and environmental challenges such as financial inclusion, healthcare access, education, clean energy, and workforce development, with a particular focus on underserved and historically marginalized communities in the US and globally.
