UCL Business (UCLB)

UCL Business (UCLB) is the wholly owned commercialisation subsidiary of University College London, dedicated to protecting and commercialising pioneering ideas, innovations and technologies developed at UCL and its partner NHS hospitals. UCLB invests directly in UCL spinout companies at Seed and Series A stage — with initial cheques up to £250k alongside angel syndicates and external investors, and up to £5m across multiple rounds — and co-manages the UCL Technology Fund (with AlbionVC) to invest in IP commercialisation opportunities predominantly in engineering and life sciences that have the potential to generate outstanding societal and market impact. UCLB also provides proof-of-concept grants, therapeutic licensing development funding (£500k–£2m), and a dedicated Social Ventures fund, covering the full spectrum from early lab-stage research to high-growth spinout businesses.
