Kapor Capital is an Oakland-based venture capital firm that invests in industry-transforming startups, redefining what venture capital is capable of by prioritizing a new outcome: a more fair, just, and equitable society for low-income communities and underrepresented communities of color. Since 2011, the firm has invested exclusively in early-stage, tech-driven startups committed to closing gaps of access, opportunity, or outcome — particularly for African-American and Latinx communities — across sectors including education, finance, health, workforce development, and climate. Kapor Capital believes that investing in underrepresented entrepreneurs yields new ideas, markets, and revenue streams that others have overlooked, and that building diverse and inclusive teams brings a competitive advantage to tech. The firm focuses on seed-stage companies and requires portfolio founders to sign the Kapor Capital Founders' Commitment, embedding diversity and inclusion as a core business value from the earliest stages. Fund III, the firm's largest at $126 million, targets approximately 51 deals and is the first fund raised with outside LPs.
