Old College Capital (OCC) is the University of Edinburgh's venture investment fund, managing Edinburgh's early-stage investment activities and shareholdings. The fund invests in high-growth, early-stage businesses associated with the University — primarily spinouts and startups from University staff, students, and researchers — following a co-investment model by partnering with experienced private sector investors. OCC operates four investment streams: OCC Launch (pre-seed, £20k–£50k first tickets), OCC Ventures (Seed to Series A, £150k–£250k first tickets), OCC Equity (founding shareholdings in spinouts), and OCC Strategic (bridging commercialisation and ecosystem funding gaps). Committed to an evergreen model, OCC reinvests its returns to support the next generation of companies, with a focus on deep tech, AI, health, and sustainability — with over 85% of its active portfolio aligned to a UN Sustainable Development Goal.
