Founded in 2020, Wilbe operates as both a venture fund and a platform — running weekly 'Build Week' cohorts that take researchers from idea to company in as little as seven days, backing standout teams from day zero (pre-incorporation) with initial checks of $100K–$500K. As Co-founder and COO Devika Thapar puts it: 'Our thesis is simple: empower scientists to operate as founders, and they will solve the challenges that define our generation.' To date, Wilbe has equipped more than 1,400 scientists from institutions including MIT, Oxford, Cambridge, and Max Planck, backed 23 companies, and helped create over $1.3 billion in value worldwide — with portfolio companies tackling clean energy (Proxima Fusion), fertility (U-Ploid Bio), AI/materials science (Apoha), and cancer therapeutics (Siftr Bio).
